How Do Soft Tissue Fillers Work?
Wrinkles and lines on the face can make you appear older than you are. Though there are a number of reasons these lines appear, the good news is that there are minimally invasive options to treat them. If you’re looking to regain a younger-looking face or rejuvenate your skin, Dr. Conrad has multiple dermal filler options for you to consider.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
A dermal filler is an injectable solution used to correct wrinkles, lines, or creases. This treatment can restore facial contours in places where a lack of fat has caused a sunken or flat look, such as your cheeks. Some fillers can even be used to add volume to your lips.
Filler Options
Dr. Conrad’s office offers multiple filler options, each targeting different areas of the face. Prior to your procedure, you will consult with a Certified Nurse Injector to review your treatment goals. She will evaluate your face and skin to determine which filler (or fillers) would be most appropriate for you.
Lip Enhancement
Dr. Conrad uses Restylane-L® and JUVÉDERM® XC dermal filler for lip enhancement procedures. These options are composed of a synthetic form of the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in our bodies. Hyaluronic acid keeps skin hydrated, giving a youthful look. Lidocaine can be used during your treatment to keep you comfortable.
Line and Wrinkle Reduction
Restylane-L®, Restylane® Lyft, JUVÉDERM® XC, and RADIESSE® are used to reduce wrinkles, lines, and creases in your face. The filler is injected below the targeted area. It fills the space, expanding and plumping the skin to smooth out wrinkles and creases.
Restoring Facial Volume
Sculptra® Aesthetic is designed to restore lost facial volume. With lost volume comes flat cheeks and more pronounced wrinkles. This injectable treatment stimulates collagen production in your face to help restore fullness to your cheeks and in turn, remove wrinkles. This treatment typically requires two to three injections with long-lasting results.
What Can You Expect?
The actual treatment session is very quick, though this depends on how many treatment sites and how many different fillers you are receiving. You may experience some swelling or bruising, but this should pass quickly. Although dermal fillers do not require any downtime, you may want to take it easy for a few days. Fillers are temporary treatments with results lasting anywhere from six months to two years. Dr. Conrad will provide you with more specific information regarding the longevity of results.
